A Novel Idea Bookshop
A Novel Idea is an independent bookshop with a loyal, bookish community and a whole lot of foot traffic. But their email list wasn't keeping up. I came in to turn all that love into a list that actually grows, and emails that keep readers coming back. I also handled a full redesign of their website to manage their massive product catalog and help users get to checkout seamlessly, join book clubs, and make donations to classrooms across the country.
The challenge
The shop had a bare-bones "subscribe" box with no reason to join, no follow-up once people did, and no regular newsletter. The list had stalled way below what the shop's fans could support.
The approach
I redesigned the signup popup around a clear 15% off welcome offer, then built a full suite of email automations in Shopify Email (welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase, and win-back) so every new subscriber got a warm hello and a reason to come back. I rebuilt the newsletter template in the shop's own fonts and colors, and turned their Stars Hollow Fall Celebration into a subscriber magnet. The biggest jump came that week: from 790 to 1,393 subscribers in just seven days.
The results
- 212%email list growth
- 467 to 1,458subscribers in five weeks
- 603new subscribers in one week, around the festival
- 7email automations working in the background

Boujoux
Boujoux by Mandy Roussel is a handmade jewelry brand with a Louisiana heart, art deco flair, and a whole lot of one-of-a-kind pieces. Mandy's store was stuck on a platform that made running her shop harder than it needed to be, so we moved everything to Shopify and moved her wholesale program to Faire.
The challenge
Move an entire jewelry store to a new platform without losing a single product, link, or bit of search traffic. Then get it ready for new wholesale buyers and a whole new audience on Pinterest.
The approach
I migrated every product from her previous platform to Shopify, cleaned them up, and organized them into collections that make browsing easy. Then I designed the homepage and core pages, redirected every old link so customers and Google landed in the right place, and sorted out the tricky domain setup to get the new store live. I also connected her shop with a robust search and discovery app so customers could filter the large catalog of products in her shop by material, color, etc. From there, I set Mandy up on Faire with 13 email automations to keep wholesale buyers coming back, and built her Pinterest profile and boards to bring in new shoppers.
The results
- 150+handmade pieces migrated to Shopify
- Every old linkredirected, so no lost traffic
- 13Faire email automations
- 4Shopify email automations
- 8Pinterest boards

Common Dear
Common Dear was a women-owned, feminist, self-empowerment retail and wholesale brand that my wife and I built from the ground up and ran in Oklahoma City from its launch in November 2019 until we closed in September 2024. We designed the brand together. I built and managed the Shopify store, ran our social media with our team on TikTok, created the content for Instagram, designed the packaging, developed products with my wife, merchandised the shop, and managed inventory.
The challenge
Build a brand that could live everywhere at once: on a phone screen, on a product, on our own shelves, on shelves in stores across the country through our wholesale program, on a pop-up table, and on a social feed. And make it feel like the same world in every single place.
The approach
It started with a strong logo and visual identity with enough character to translate across formats without losing itself. Every decision after that, from social graphics and packaging to signage, the shop's look, and the Shopify store design, was built on that same foundation. The brand had a point of view, and it showed up everywhere.
The results
- 10,000+Instagram followers
- 16,000+TikTok followers
- 6 figuresin revenue in the first full year

Folk and Bones
Folk and Bones is the hand-poured soy candle brand my wife and I built, with an extended line of incense cones and perfume oils. We started in 2016, rebranded as Johnny and June in 2022, and became Folk and Bones in 2026, when we closed our retail store to grow the candle brand on its own. I've designed every visual piece the brand has ever needed: the logos, the packaging for every product line, all three of our Shopify stores, and every bit of marketing.
The challenge
Standing out in a crowded candle market. Every choice had to say something specific, from the green glass apothecary jars with cork lids in the Ritual Collection to names like Witching Hour, Death Before Decaf, Persephone, and Sacrifice, so the right customer would stop scrolling.
The approach
Two collections, two personalities, one brand. The Everyday Collection is warm and easy to love. The Ritual Collection is dark, apothecary-inspired, and intentional. I designed the logo and packaging to hold both under one roof without watering either down, then built a Shopify store to match: moody product photos, clean navigation for both collections, and Faire built in for our wholesale program.
The results
- 800+wholesale stockists worldwide
- since 2017selling wholesale on Faire
- Whole Foodson the shelves
- Will Rogers Airporton the shelves
- 10,000+Instagram followers
- 16,000+TikTok followers
- 3Shopify stores designed over the brand's life (from OKcollective Candle Co. in 2016 to Johnny and June in 2022 to Folk and Bones in late 2025)

Johnny and June
Johnny and June was our Oklahoma City indie gift shop and candle brand: a curated, personality-packed little shop with a loyal local following. My wife and I built it from the ground up, and as co-owner and designer, I made every single marketing and branding piece our customers ever saw.
The challenge
Make the whole brand feel like one world. A customer who found us on Instagram, walked into the shop, picked up a candle, and carried home a bag should feel the same personality at every single step.
The approach
I designed the full brand ecosystem: the logo and visual identity, the Shopify store, packaging for our hand-poured candles, custom packaging for clients, event marketing for shop activations and trade shows, signage, merchandising, and every piece of ongoing marketing. And because we owned it, every decision had real stakes: foot traffic, sales, and how the community saw us. Designing as an owner makes you very intentional, very fast.

Kallos Ink
Kallos Ink is a botanical watercolor art brand from Oklahoma City, run by husband-and-wife team Leah and Micah Fryslie. Their original artwork shows up on prints, stickers, keychains, and patches, sold both on their Shopify store and wholesale on Faire. They came to me to get both shops working as hard as their art does.
The challenge
Two platforms, two very different shoppers, and a catalog that had grown faster than anyone could keep tidy. Retail customers on Shopify and store buyers on Faire needed completely different product copy, the listings didn't match from one platform to the other, and the email automations that should have been selling in the background just weren't set up yet. That’s just what happens when your run a product-based business where you produce what you sell while having to keep the back-end up to date at the same time.
The approach
I tackled it in three phases. First, the Shopify foundation: email automations, a 10% off signup popup, rewritten collections, new Best Sellers and Oklahoma Native Plants collections, cleaner navigation with a wholesale page, and reviews. Next, every Shopify product got new titles, descriptions, search copy, and alt text, with a smarter structure (like turning birth month prints into twelve standalone products). Last, the Faire shop got the full wholesale treatment: retailer-facing descriptions, maxed-out tags, new collections, a shop bio, and automations that keep buyers reordering. I finished with a full SEO and accessibility check of the site.
The results
- 161Shopify products rewritten for shoppers
- 106+Faire listings optimized for wholesale buyers
- 17email automations set up across both shops
- 8new Faire collections
